Aprilia Shiver 750 v-twin 2010
Aprilia's long awaited new middleweight 750 has arrived. Based around a brand new 750cc 90° v-twin developed initially by parent Piaggio's engine department and tuned by Aprilia, which puts out 95hp at 9,000rpm and 60lbft of torque at 8,000rpm using DOHC and four valves per cylinder and a dry sump. Like the newly announced WSB race engine, and a first for this category of bike, this v-twin has a fly-by-wire system with the throttle bodies controlled directly by the Magneti Marelli ECU using not only the position of the throttle grip in the rider's right hand but also other parameters such the engine speed and gear selected. This should particularly help with smooth running at low engine speeds and at initial startup. APRILIA SXV 450 Aprilia have moved on from their struggles and created a remarkable SXV supermoto. Based on their successful racer, the bike features the firm's new engine - a 449cc, 60bhp, 77 degrees V-twin that revs at 13,000rpm. It is housed in steel alloy frame with trunk-like 48mm folks, the most beautiful swing arm of recent times, radial brake callipers and a fat 180 section of back tyre. With a dry weight of 120kg.This being closely based on the Aprilia Supermoto S2 Wrold Championship. This is a road legal competition bike, so its still needs to be seviced. The injected V-Twin has no balance shaft, so it may vibrate less than a single-cylinder supermoto, but it can still feel quite raw. The Suspension is fully adjustable; with separate high and low speed damping adjustment on the rear shock. Shorties may wince at the 918mm seat height. Bodywork is minimalist to save that extra weight including compact digital instruments and a gesture fuel tank which just carries just less than 8litres. Soon a 549cc version will be available, which has slightly less compression and a lower redline. Aprilia say it will be a better bike who wants a pure street bike. The RXV enduro bike will have slightly thinner wheels, and different brakes, with suspension, gearing and ECU setting all to suit.
