The RSV 1000 is already a dream come true for thousands of passionate riders, a machine with all the smoothness and pulsating power needed to guarantee success on the world's circuits and roads. Today the RSV 1000 has surpassed itself yet again in the form of the new RSV 1000 R, totally renewed, even faster and more extraordinary then ever before!

The RSV 1000 R experience
RIDE TO BELIEVE

The RSV 1000 has amazed the world ever since it was introduced. It has built up an incredible record in comparative tests and is conclusively accepted as the fastest production twin cylinder motorcycle on the track. But at Aprilia even the best gets better and, five years after its introduction, with over 138 horsepower at the crank and a top speed of over 280 Km/hour, the new RSV 1000 R has knocked another second off average circuit times during testing! This extra speed and power demonstrates even more clearly the RSV's incredible handling and exceptional racing efficiency too. Unbeatable riding satisfaction is guaranteed under even the most extreme conditions.

The RSV 1000 R design
The perfectly balanced chassis is built around the new aluminium and silicon alloy frame. The frame has been completely redesigned for improved riding control and is 5% more rigid than before. It also weighs in 600 grams lighter.

A DESIGN WATERSHED

The RSV 1000 R sets new standards for design for Aprilia and for the entire motorcycling world. Its aggressive lines ensure improved aerodynamic penetration and thermal efficiency from the engine. The new cockpit fairing, with four headlights and dynamic air intake transforms air into power and power into speed. And the RSV 1000 R has achieved the almost impossible objective of clothing maximum mechanical efficiency in sheer beauty. One look at the essential new graphics is enough to convince. When you have this much personality, you don't need to shout.
The front of the bike is completely new, with direction indicators integrated in the mirrors and four paired headlights for greater lighting efficiency.
The tail is a true masterpiece of aerodynamics, and features a design that tapers to perfection to eliminate wake turbulence and drag.
The rear light cluster incorporates an extremely advanced, ultrasound sealed, honeycomb structure comprising 16 variable intensity LEDs.
The double exhaust is another track-derived innovation on the RSV 1000 R. It improves overall balance and aerodynamics at high speed.

A PERFECT BALANCE
The new RSV 1000 R embodies the very latest and most advanced concepts in motorcycle design in a bike that is simply born for the track. The RSV 1000 R is even more compact than before, meaning easier control and greater feel in all riding situations.

The new RSV 1000 R is lower and more compact, with optimum weight distribution. And when it comes to aerodynamics, the bike has achieved such perfection as to defy description. Thanks to its record Cx value of only 0.3, the new RSV 1000 R delivers better than ever performance and rider protection even under conditions of extreme turbulence, as generated during extensive wind tunnel testing.

The RSV 1000 R's V 60° Magnesium engine
THE POWER OF TECHNOLOGY
The RSV 1000 R has achieved exceptional results in terms of power too, triumphally passing the 100 kW mark to deliver a mighty 102 kW. This extraordinary achievement is the result of extensive development of Aprilia's already legendary 60° longitudinal V twin. The new V60° Magnesium incorporates so many technical innovations that it is really a completely new engine, capable of delivering unrivalled performance and satisfaction. The power unit derives its name from the magnesium cylinder head and clutch covers chosen to keep weight down to an absolute minimum.
The engine features Aprilia's two most famous patents, the ADVC double anti-vibration countershaft system and the hydraulic clutch with PPC (Pneumatic Power Clutch) to control rear wheel bounce.
The cylinder head design is completely new and features single plug ignition, new inlet and exhaust ports and magnesium alloy cylinder head covers.

Introduction of the Air Runner dynamic air intake has increased power by 3% at maximum engine speed. The new intake incorporates two differential volume Helmotz resonators to dominate the roar of the mighty V 60° Magnesium, an electronic control valve to adjust air flow to engine speed, a high efficiency air filter plus splash trap fins. The Air Runner intake also serves a structural purpose. Two aluminium arms extend from the unit to provide a functional and elegant support for the cockpit fairing and front light cluster.
The front air intake is located centrally for maximum functionality, to avoid spoiling the bike's sleek lines, and to achieve maximum intake pressure.
Aprilia has also developed a new electronic fuel injection system. The control unit is monitors all relevant engine parameters via 15 different sensors, and calculates optimum engine control settings in real time.

THE WIND OF VICTORY
The increased power and even better performance of the RSV 1000 R is the result of a whole series of technical innovations. The design of the combustion chamber and intake system is completely new. The lubrication system has been re-designed to minimise friction. Stronger con-rods have been introduced to handle the engine's new top speed of 11,000 rpm. And a new 10.3 litre airbox has been fitted to ensure perfect intake pressure at all engine speeds. The result is greater torque at lower engine speeds and a higher than ever maximum engine speed.
The new 2 in 1 in 2 exhaust system is made completely from stainless steel, with 10/10 mm thick collectors. The silencers are finished in galvanised stainless steel and are made in exactly the same way as state of the art racing silencers. The three way catalyser with lambda probe oxygen sensor fully satisfies Euro 2 standards and effectively blocks pollutant emissions without reducing performance.
The front air intake is located centrally for maximum functionality, to avoid spoiling the bike's sleek lines, and to achieve maximum intake pressure.

RECORD BREAKING INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
The new advanced design, super-functional dashboard is also extremely light (weighing in at just 220 grams) thanks to the latest digital technology. The analogue rev counter with overspeed warning light can be adjusted to suit your needs and is accompanied by a multi-functional LED display that integrates a 40 memory chronometer as well as the sophisticated injection system diagnostics. You can choose between three levels of back-lighting intensity, with light provided by white LEDs for the analogue rev counter and red LEDs for the display. The display unit itself functions as an easy to use and easy to read multi-purpose on-board computer.

RSV 1000 R Chassis & Components
NUMBER ONE FOR RIGIDITY
The RSV 1000 R's new aluminium and silicon alloy frame gives 5% better torsional rigidity than the previous frame, which was already the most rigid in its class. The new frame weighs in 600 grams lighter too! Weight distribution has been improved with a new design that allows air to pass around the steering head. The result is an extraordinary feeling of symbiosis between rider and machine, incredible handling and absolute precision in maintaining a line. The RSV 1000 R lets you make full use of wheel slide when braking into bends and when powering out of them, allowing you to adopt the latest competition riding techniques.
The suspensions have been reviewed to match the new frame and are fully adjustable to allow you to achieve a perfect setup without having to replace expensive parts or request technical assistance.
The handlebar hydraulics use Brembo radial master cylinders, 18 mm for the front wheel and 15 mm for the clutch.

RSV 1000 Factory Components

TOTALLY PROFESSIONAL. TOTALLY EXCLUSIVE.
The RSV 1000 R Factory is equipped with a masterpiece of Aprilia technology, radial calliper brakes. This advanced braking system, developed in conjunction with Brembo and used for the first time on Aprilia's GP bikes, takes its name from the radial arrangement of the calliper fixing bolts around the disk. This fixing system gives better rigidity in the fork bottom/calliper assembly and improved alignment between the calliper and the disk. The advantages are evident in better braking control, greater system stability and reduced pad wear. The pads themselves are in a new sintered material designed for even higher performance and longer life.
The fork is a 43 mm Öhlins Racing upside-down fork with titanium nitride surface treatment for reduced sliding resistance. External hydraulic adjustment allows precision regulation without removal or disassembly. The rear suspension is an Öhlins Racing monoshock with separate piggy-back cylinder, and is adjustable in rebound, compression, preload and length.
The entire front end of the RSV 1000 R Factory has been specially designed for better than ever damping and road holding even with the bike leaned right over.
The forged aluminium wheels and are made using a technique derived from Formula 1 racing to achieve a reduction in weight of 1 kg per wheel and 25% less inertia than is possible with conventional die-cast wheels.
