Vespa 946 Snake: An icy elegance for the new limited edition Vespa model to celebrate the Year of the Snake

Milan, 8 January 2025 – Vespa unveils the Vespa 946 Snake, a new limited edition reinterpretation of the iconic model, embodying the essence of winter and building out the empty space lifestyle project offering for the coldest season.

With its design inspired by icy landscapes and the ethereal beauty of winter, the Vespa 946 Snake stands out for its iridescent blue livery in icy shades which pay homage to the purity and strength of snowy landscapes. Woven into this glacial scenery is the inspiration of the snake, conveyed through the handlebar grips and saddle, modelled to recall the soft texture of the animal’s skin. The chrome-plated snake featuring on both the fuel cap and mudguard completes a design project that combines strength, grace and originality.

Available in a limited edition of only 888 numbered scooters, the Vespa 946 Snake is a true style statement destined to become a collector’s item in the Lunar Collection, the series of limited-edition models paying homage to the Lunar Calendar. After the year of the Dragon, we are transported to 2025, the year of the Snake, an imperial and enigmatic creature that invites us to go beyond our limits, to live with boldness and to travel beyond boundaries. The Vespa 946 Snake was created to express this philosophy.

The Vespa 946 Snake is accompanied by a series of accessories, created with the utmost attention to design and functionality, and closely aligned with the style of the collection. The helmet, with its removable interior and smoked visor, features a handcrafted attention to detail and echoes the finish of the scooter: an iridescent blue with a 3D chrome snake. Ideal for those seeking safety without sacrificing style, which won’t go unnoticed.

The Vespa Snake universe is rounded off with a selection of ready-to-wear articles and accessories from the Vespa Snake Capsule, previewed in October, and now enriched with two key items: the long puffer coat and the bomber jacket. The white, floor-length puffer coat wraps the body in a warm embrace, while the tone-on-tone snake profile detailing recalls the central theme of the collection. The bomber jacket has an iridescent sheen which evokes the icy hues of the winter landscape, the contrast between the shiny fabric and the embroidered graphic details gives the piece a strong, contemporary aesthetic.

An exciting collaboration

Two iconic brands meet in a limited edition collaboration that celebrates a very special anniversary:

Vespa presents Disney Mickey Mouse Edition by Vespa.

A special anniversary

Today these two timeless icons come together on a special project for Disney100, with Vespa paying homage to this anniversary through a global collaboration of the two unique brands with a Disney Mickey Mouse Edition by Vespa.

Disney Mickey Mouse Edition by Vespa

For this collaboration, the Vespa Primavera 50cc and 125cc are coloured black, red, white and yellow, the same hues that have
characterized Walt Disney’s most famous mouse.

A wonderful travel companion

The yellow wheels are reminiscent of Mickey Mouse’s shoes, while the black mirrors recall his unmistakable round ears. A graphic pattern outlining the character’s silhouette decorates both sides of the scooter as well as the front. Finally, Mickey Mouse’s signature could not be missed, featured on both the saddle and the front shell.

Primavera

A TIMELESS CLASSIC

Young, technologically advanced and environmentally friendly: Vespa Primavera is an iconic symbol of its times that zips through twenty-first century streets with the same agility and dynamism today as the original legend that revolutionised urban mobility during the Swinging Sixties.

The Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello is not afraid of comparison!

The firstborn of Moto Guzzi’s new generation, the V100 Mandello, achieves outstanding results in the Sport Tourer category at Motociclismo magazine’s Tester Day 2023 event.

Tester Day, organised by the Motociclismo magazine, is one of the most eagerly anticipated events of the year for two-wheel fans.
Its brilliant and unique formula offers bikers the chance to take part in a “mini comparison”, by trying out a selection of bikes in the same category from different brands across a single day, making it easy to appreciate their advantages and differences. Then, at the end of the day, all participants are given a detailed questionnaire and asked to rate their experiences.

Over 1000 scorecards were submitted by riders at Tester Day 2023, and the honours in the Sport Tourer category went to the V100 Mandello, with a score of 8.33/10.
Combining the grit of a roadster and the comforts of a tourer, the V100 Mandello was the outright winner in its category, beating all models from other leading manufacturers.

The event is set to take place at the Misano circuit which will host the 2023 edition of Aprilia’s huge party with their bikes and greatest champions. It will be a day of festivities and love for bikes and for Italian motorcycling with entry free of charge at the Misano World Circuit, as per tradition. The offer of fun suitable for all this year will be richer than ever before. In fact, the schedule is jam packed with events, not only on the track, but also off track, thanks to the area dedicated entirely to off road and the Tuareg 660. Expert Enduro Republic instructors will be on hand to share the secrets of off-road riding on the Tuareg 660, just as they do during the Tuareg Experience days, held by Enduro Republic in some of the most beautiful locations for enduro bikes, including North Africa.

It will be a day of unforgettable fun where the public will be the true protagonist in celebrating one of the most victorious brands of motorcycling, its heritage, and its champions. All  the Aprilia Racing riders who race in MotoGP and off road will be attending: Aleix Espargaró, Maverick Viñales, Lorenzo Savadori, and this year Miguel Oliveira and Raúl Fernandez as well, Aprilia Racing team RNF riders. Riders Jacopo Cerutti and Francesco Montanari will also be on hand, from the fledgling Aprilia Racing team which won at its début astride a Tuareg 660 tuned by GCorse and Aprilia Racing in the Italian Motorally Championship. In addition, of course, to the champions who have made Aprilia the Italian and European brand with the most wins in World Championship Grand Prix racing with their victories, such as Max Biaggi, Loris Capirossi, and many others, all happy and willing to meet the fans. The jewels of Aprilia will be on display – the racing bikes that have earned 54 championship titles for the manufacturer from Veneto, as well as the current range, of course, available for test rides on the local roads.

The schedule promises to be extremely full, conceived to involve the public in the paddock in an exceptional series of activities, all to the soundtrack of Radio Deejay and M2O, present in Misano. All the riders who arrive astride their Aprilia bikes will be the absolute stars of the most thrilling moment, the great procession with the champions which will also continue off track this year, to make the grand finale even more spectacular.

APRILIA RACING IS READY FOR THE 2023 MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

AS PLANNED, THE PROJECT CONTINUES ITS DEVELOPMENT: FOR THE FIRST TIME FOUR RS-GP BIKES AND FOUR TOP RIDERS WILL BE ON TRACK

AFTER THE EXCELLENT 2022 SEASON, THE EVOLUTION OF THE PROJECT DOES NOT STOP, WITH THE AIM OF BEING EVEN MORE COMPETITIVE BUT ABOVE ALL TO ENTERTAIN AND MAKE THOUSANDS OF APRILIA FANS AROUND THE WORLD DREAM

From surprise to confirmation: this will be the goal of the MotoGP 2023 season for Aprilia Racing, which presents itself through a fun and engaging video, with team and riders immersed in the atmosphere of one of the most famous TV series. Last season, Aprilia experienced impressive growth in terms of results (their first MotoGP win, another eight podium finishes, and two pole positions) which placed the Italian team among the championship protagonists, in the battle all the way to the end of the season for the most prestigious objectives in every category.

Results which had already been foreshadowed at the start of 2021 when, along with a series of outstanding placings, the first MotoGP podium arrived and results rooted in years of taking steps in the right direction. Now Aprilia Racing faces a dual challenge – confirming their potential in the championship battle and continuing to grow, with a few more weapons in their arsenal, beginning with the satellite team and its riders Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez, as well as an additional flow of information that will come in handy in developing the RS-GP.

But the spotlight will certainly be on the number 41 garage where Aleix Espargaró will once again be fighting for the championship after his fourth place last season – with more than one regret. Team veteran by statistics and “Captain” by unanimous acclamation, Aleix will be able to count on both the perfect symbiosis with a team that has been following him since 2017 and on the experience and maturity that he has built up over more than 200 Motorcycle World Championship Grand Prix races.

For Maverick Viñales, the positive pressure is just as clear. The talent of the rider from Roses will now be able to rely on complete harmony with the structure of the team and the characteristics of the RS-GP. If 2022 was a year of growth with some spectacular high points, 2023 promises to be the year when he will achieve high level consistency.

Tester Lorenzo Savadori is more than confirmed. His work has been one of the pillars on which Aprilia’s huge growth has been built over recent season and he will also be participating in three wild cards, still to be decided.

On the technical front, the evolution of the Aprilia RS-GP involved every single aspect. The V4 engine, which cannot evolve during the season after losing concessions, has increased in power and maximum RPM whilst maintaining its outstanding rideability. The chassis architecture relies on a frame that has been revisited based on the riders’ requests, striving for traction and stability. The aerodynamics maintain the concepts introduced in 2022 such as the curved side panel or the characteristic configuration of the front winglet and evolves them, confirming Aprilia Racing’s technological leadership in the sector. The electronics benefit from the introduction of a new Magneti Marelli ECU and refined strategy management, the object of constant work which will continue race after race.

Aprilia Racing’s growth from a structural point of view also continues. New arrivals on the factory team and new organisation to follow the team clients are the most evident results of this. The racing department from Noale thereby perseveres in its commitment to improve from an organisational point of view, as well as in the technology the RS-GP brings to the race.

Massimo Rivola – Aprilia Racing CEO

“Our growth is undeniable, as is how rapidly we improved. It is a path that did not come about by chance. We are a better company from every point of view, so I expect this trend to continue. Our challenge will now increase with the further responsibility of a satellite team which, while on one hand will allow us to have much more information available, will also be an important test bench for our organisational and analytical ability. The winter break, which was actually one of the most labour intensive periods, was positive, as were the first tests, but only in the race will we be able to assess our level with respect to our rivals. We’ll be under more pressure and we are faced with a new format which implies new challenges for teams and riders, but we have prepared well and I believe that we’ll start the championship season with extremely high motivation. Goals? To do better than last year.”

Romano Albesiano, Aprilia Racing Technical Director

“We are rather convinced that we worked well during the winter break and the first tests have already provided some confirmation of this. The technical situation will be new for us, also having a second team to support and from which to be able to draw important information. The race weekends will also bring some changes, with the introduction of the Sprint Race which will demand a specific approach. Every detail of the new RS-GP is an evolution of the 2022 concept, with a numerical improvement of all the main aspects and the development programme anticipates further refinements throughout the season.”

Aleix Espargaró

“Being with Aprilia for such a long time puts a certain amount of pressure on me because I know how important results are for this company. At the same time, maturity and the fact that I know the people I work with well give me peace of mind. The 2023 championship season will begin with plenty of unknowns. The new format with the Sprint Race on Saturday will demand even more preparation of us riders but no one can truly assess the actual impact of this change yet. I have prepared to my best ability and I am confident that we will have fun again this year.”

Maverick Viñales

“I learned a lot in 2022 about Aprilia and my team, but also about myself. In this new season, we’ll be able to put everything learned during this apprenticeship into practice. I liked the new RS-GP straight away. It has improved in aspects, such as early throttle opening management, which are fundamental for my riding style. I like the new weekend format. It will be interesting both for the fans and for the teams which will have a chance to prepare for the Sunday race using the Sprint Race. I can’t wait to get started. The break was refreshing, but now I just want to get back out on the track!”

Lorenzo Savadori

“The new 2023 RS-GP 2023 has clearly grown, but I think there is still margin for improvement. Our goal is to continue testing new solutions. We have some interesting ideas to implement. Physically, I am at 100% after recovering from various injuries so, as always, I will be ready to go. The biggest improvement of the new Aprilia? I’d say the engine. We made more than one step forward and I think that this will help us during the course of the season.”

TUAREG 660 DOMINATES IN THE ITALIAN MOTORALLY AND RAID TT CHAMPIONSHIP

ASTRIDE THE TWIN-CYLINDER FROM NOALE, JACOPO CERUTTI IS UNCATCHABLE AND TAKES HOME A FANTASTIC HAT TRICK

APRILIA TUAREG 660 WINS STRAIGHT AWAY IN THE FLEDGLING ITALIAN GPX CHAMPIONSHIP AS WELL

Riotorto (Livorno), 3 April 2023 – Aprilia Racing’s brand new project aimed at bringing the Aprilia brand back to big raid rallies starts off in the best of ways. At his début astride the Aprilia Tuareg 660, Jacopo Cerutti dominated all three race days which included the first two trials of the Italian Motorally Championship and the first trial of the Tricolore Raid TT, held this weekend in Riotorto, province of Livorno.

The Tuareg 660 – Cerutti duo had no rivals in the G-1000 category, reserved for multiple engine displacements besides 600 cc. After finishing ahead of the rest on Friday, valid for the Italian Raid TT Championship, the brilliant rider from Como astonished everyone with a peremptory brace in the prestigious Tricolore Motorally, unleashing an extraordinary performance, so much to contend for the overall victory over the much lighter single-cylinder enduro bikes.

In fact, Cerutti finished the Saturday rally in second position overall – just 25” from a win which would have been unprecedented for a twin-cylinder bike – and in fifth place overall on Sunday. This performance is a testament to the outstanding off-road base features of the Tuareg 660, as well as to the great job accomplished by Aprilia Racing and GCorse.

Aprilia Racing’s second Tuareg 660, entrusted to Francesco Montanari, was also a protagonist with a third-place finish in the Raid TT on Friday, with the podium replicated the following day in the first trial of the Italian Motorally. Montanari then finished the day on Sunday in seventh place, hindered by a penalty.

Jacopo Cerutti

“I’m extremely happy! I didn’t expect to be so high in the standings straight away! It is a great source of pride for me to have been able to win at the Tuareg’s début. We knew that we were competitive and I expected to be able to make a play for the win against the other twin-cylinders, but even being a threat to the specialised enduro bikes was a big surprise. We won even coming close to clinching the overall title and that is a clear demonstration of the bike’s potential, which is extremely high. The Tuareg 660 handles extremely well and rides great on mixed terrain and this characteristic helped me a lot in the special stages – very technical – which we tackled over the weekend. We’ll need to work ahead of the upcoming races with more flowing tracks, but we already know what we have to do to perform well even on the fast stretches. Competing helps us understand where to focus in order to make even more progress in view of our future commitments. Our development work has only just begun!”

Francesco Montanari

“I am satisfied because I started well straight away with third place on Friday and another third in the first trial of the Motorally on Saturday, despite a few mistakes reading the roadbook. On Sunday, in the second trial, I lost a bit of time due to a crash, but the important thing is that my weekend went on an upward trend. We worked well, making a few changes to the suspension, and now I have an outstanding feeling with the bike. I had a lot of fun riding. I feel like I can push when it’s necessary and Jacopo showed that our potential is extremely high. Being on the team with him is just mad motivation. I can’t wait to tackle the next round to try and stay even higher!”

At the top straight away in the GPX Championship as well

In Riotorto, the Aprilia Tuareg 660 proved to be a great protagonist straight away in the fledgling Italian GPX Championship as well, a rally format with simplified navigation – through GPS tracking – created this year to make the discipline accessible to the many off-road fans. Participating with basically a stock Tuareg 660, outfitted only with the minimum modifications required to tackle a competition, Paolo Pettinari took the win in the second of the three trials scheduled on the Tuscan weekend.
Yet another victory that demonstrates how much the Tuareg 660 is actually the new point of reference among twin-cylinder adventure bikes for all enthusiasts looking for a motorcycle with which to approach off-road racing in the easiest and most fun way.
Precisely for this reason, Aprilia will be on the paddock of the Italian Motorally with its own structure to provide support for all those who intend to participate in the GPX Championship astride a Tuareg 660.

CYCLE WORLD EXCLUSIVE FIRST RIDE: V100 MANDELLO

A brand-new engine and model to carry the marque into its next century.

The long awaited arrival of the V100 Mandello is almost here and Cycle World had the exclusive opportunity to test ride the new machine prior to its market release.

The passion around the Piaggio group is infectious, and Moto Guzzi’s team was fully up to the task of creating something very special. Although the engine at the heart of the V100 is arguably the bike’s greatest attribute, that wasn’t enough for the team; the bike needed something else to make it stand out against the sea of motorcycles currently on the market. The team decided to pursue semi-active aerodynamics, not for the motorcycle but for the rider and passenger; this is something that has never been brought to market before. Additionally, it was well understood that Guzzi’s traditional customers still expect the brand to deliver its unique character.

APRILIA GETS OFF TO A GREAT START AT SEPANG

APRILIA GETS OFF TO A GREAT START AT SEPANG FOR THE 2023 MOTOGP SEASON OPENER.

FIRST TESTS FOR ALEIX, MAVERICK, AND THE NEW RS-GP: APRILIA’S WORK OVER THE WINTER BREAK PASSES WITH FLYING COLOURS.

One of the most highly anticipated events of the year came to a close  with the chequered flag over the first of the 2023 MotoGP tests. Three days for riders and techs to test and analyse the new technical solutions developed over the winter break.

All exams were passed in the Aprilia camp. Both Aleix and Maverick approved the new RS-GP, considering it a positive step in all the major areas. From the most visible aerodynamics – the feather in the Italian racing department’s cap – to equally fundamental details such as the engine, the chassis and the electronics package.

The information gathered during the six days of testing (if we also consider the three shakedown sessions done by tester Lorenzo Savadori), will be analysed and assessed ahead of the Portimão tests. Four weeks of intense work to introduce more new features and to confirm the technical package for the season start.

Aleix Espargaró

“I can consider myself satisfied with this first test, despite the weather costing us time yesterday. The new RS-GP is definitely faster than the previous version. It has improved a bit in every area and if we add up many small improvements, the end result is good. This doesn’t change the fact that it’s still too early to form a definitive opinion. The engineers will have a month before the next test in Portimão and much can still change.”

Maverick Viñales

“I’m pleased. Aprilia did a lot of work over the winter and I already feel much more comfortable on the RS-GP. There are clearly still things to improve, also because in these first tests we tried a lot of different components without going in depth into the setting details. But overall, I think we have higher technical potential than we did at the end of last season and that is an outstanding sensation to have for the first test.”

V100 MANDELLO AND MARVEL COMICS

Moto Guzzi, In collaboration with Marvel Entertainment, introduces Journey of Time, a custom comic book collectible commemorating the V100 Mandello. Aprilia Racing is ready to go off road

BACK TO AFRICA: APRILIA RACING IS READY TO GO OFF ROAD AS IT PREPARES FOR A RETURN TO THE TOP RALLY RAIDS

THE TUAREG 660 IS CENTRAL TO THE NEW APRILIA RACING PROJECT. AS IS CLEAR FROM THE NAME AND THE EQUIPMENT OF THE TWIN-CYLINDER ENDURO, THE BIKE IS READY FOR A RETURN TO THE DESERT ADVENTURES THAT ARE IN ITS DNA.

AN IMPORTANT PROJECT THAT CAN COUNT ON THE SUPPORT OF ONE OF ITALY’S TOP RIDERS: JACOPO CERUTTI IS THE APRILIA RACING FACTORY RIDER, RESPONSIBLE FOR BIKE DEVELOPMENT FOR THE 2023 SEASON.

MASSIMO RIVOLA: “WITH THIS FASCINATING NEW PROJECT THE EVER-EVOLVING APRILIA RACING DEPARTMENT RETURNS TO ITS GREAT LOVE FOR OFF-ROAD EXPERIENCES”.

ROMANO ALBESIANO: “WE ARE PICKING UP THE BATON OF A GREAT TRADITION, AND THE BIKE’S DEVELOPMENT WILL FAITHFULLY REPRESENT THE INNOVATION AND PERFORMANCE THAT CHARACTERISE APRILIA”.

Verona, 27th January 2023 – Aprilia is preparing for a return to the top rally raids in 2024: an ambitious project that will be overseen by Aprilia Racing, thereby repeating the successful experience of Aprilia’s previous participation in Dakar, 2010-2012.

The Noale racing division returns to its true love, the world of off-road racing that marked Aprilia’s début in the world of national and international competitions, as it develops the new Aprilia Tuareg 660, a bike whose very name underscores its calling and destiny.

The Aprilia Tuareg project will be overseen by Jacopo Cerutti, 1989, who brings his own extensive experience to Aprilia Racing development: the rider from Como has multiple Italian Motorally wins to his name, as well as bringing home four Italian and one European Enduro titles and having participated in Dakar six times already. He will be backed by Francesco Montanari, a national-level Enduro rider who achieved a great rookie performance at the Tricolore Motorally last year.

Massimo Rivola – Aprilia Racing CEO

“With its ‘Back to Africa’ project Aprilia Racing is returning to the world of off-road racing, to the races that forged the division. We want to keep growing in the world of Grand Prix motorcycle racing and in on-track races. We want to discover new talent through our SP 250 Championship and the RS 660 Trophy, but we are also embarking on a completely new project with the extraordinary Aprilia Tuareg. It’s an additional sign of development for a racing division that has grown significantly over the past years achieving results never before seen by Aprilia”.

Romano Albesiano – Aprilia Racing Technical Director

“We are picking up the baton from a history of great successes. Aprilia is the only Italian brand to have won a stage of the Dakar Rally, and in 2010 we took the last podium in the overall ranking. These are just the first steps in a completely new project, and the purpose of the 2023 season will be to start us on the path that will take us back to the great desert races, but one thing is certain, the bike will be forged from the values that have always marked Aprilia’s racing endeavours, i.e. innovation in the service of performance”.

Jacopo Cerutti

“I’m very happy to be a part of this project, to work with a brand that’s 100% Italian and that has such a great history in sports is a source of great pride. This will be a new challenge for me, coming from experience with the Enduro 450. I will be riding a twin with enormous potential and will have a key role to play in development. It’s an exceptional opportunity for a rider, and I can’t wait to start”.

The racing version of the new Aprilia Tuareg 660 will be developed by Aprilia Racing with technical input from GCorse (brother’s Gianfranco and Vittoriano Guareschi), who already worked on the Tuareg taking part in the Italian Motorally Championship over the course of 2022. Involvement in the Tricolore Motorally will continue in 2023, a season that will be entirely focused on developing a project that has shown enormous potential right from the start. The starting line will feature two Tuareg 660s entrusted to Cerutti and Montanari.

Alongside Aprilia Racing’s Tuareg project, Aprilia will also be present at the venues of the 2023 Italian Motorally to provide support for all those riding a Tuareg 660 in the new GPX “entry level” category, which was specifically created to make the Championship more accessible.

Aprilia remains true to its mission of introducing enthusiasts to the world of motorcycles, an objective it has been pursuing for years with the Italian FMI Aprilia Sport Production Championship and the Aprilia RS 660 Trophy.

Aprilia Racing, a legend forged from off-road races

Off-road races marked Aprilia’s début in the world of racing, which is no surprise for a brand that had already revealed its off-roading soul with early models like the Scarabeo (produced in the ’70s). The first racing motorcycle manufactured in 1974 in Noale was a 125cc cross. The brand earned its first titles in the 125cc and 250cc categories in 1977. In 1978 it stepped onto the podium and into the limelight of Motocross Championships.

Aprilia Racing made its foray into the adventurous world of the Motorcycle World Championship in 1985, but would earn its first championship title in 1992. The world of off-road racing provided another seven world championship titles with the twin-cylinder SXV 450 and 550 taking home three Supermoto Championship titles in the Rider category and four in the Manufacturer category from 2004 to 2011.

After its first epic appearance in the Paris-Dakar with the Tuareg in 1989, Aprilia returned to the great desert race in 2010 with a revolutionary RXV Rally 450 twin that would participate in three consecutive editions of the Dakar from 2010 to 2012. The spectacular Rally immediately earned three stage victories and took third place overall in 2010, narrowly missing the glorious objective of a rookie triumph.

Aprilia remains the only Italian manufacturer to have won a stage at the Dakar, in 2012.

Introducing GITA and KILO, the first projects developed by Piaggio Fast Forward (PFF), a newly-established company overseen by Piaggio and based in the U.S. with a goal of pioneering the future of light mobility. Piaggio aims to explore the evolution of how the world gets around  by thinking about the future, expanding its vision to include a much broader range of  technological solutions compared to its current core business.

The revolutionary nature of GITA and KILO is in their ability to provide support to people in the various activities that characterise their movements in everyday life, extending the limited operating range and carrying capacity of humans. They are, in fact, conceived as a true platform for mobility, which can be customised and integrated to meet different needs in multiple scenarios.

Michele Colaninno, President of PFF, explains: “To truly understand people and their habits to  meet their needs, this is what led us to create GITA.  We understood that we have to create  products  in  line  with  the  needs  of  tomorrow’s  humans, and we will do that through  humans. The  success story is made up of PFF people and teams, who are the living proof. They are young, enthusiastic, with no  fear of challenges,  a melting  pot  of cultures and professionalism  who together have created a perfect merging of robotics, engineering and design.”

Roberto Colaninno, Chairman and CEO of the Piaggio Group , declared: “The Piaggio Group,  through the creation of PFF, looks again to the future, to young people, to the future generations, and doesn’t want to merely be ready to face the challenges of this increasingly complex mobility scenario, but wants to be leading agent of this change. Innovation, research and curiosity are the basis of this project and are its main drivers.”

GITA (which means “short trip” in Italian) is an intelligent autonomous vehicle designed to support humans. It can carry up to 18 kg and both observe and communicate. Reaching speeds of up to 35 km/hour it is able to follow a human operator and can also move autonomously in a mapped environment.

KILO is the big brother of GITA and can transport up to 100 kg in its spacious 120-litre compartment.

MOTOGP 2022 – RACE – ARGENTINAGP

APRILIA TRIUMPHS IN THE GP OF ARGENTINA, IT’S THE FIRST WIN IN MOTOGP

WITH A MASTERFUL RACE, ALEIX ESPARGARÓ WINS AT TERMAS DE RIO HONDO AND MOVES INTO THE LEAD OF THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

MAVERICK VIÑALES, SEVENTH ACROSS THE LINE, TOPS OFF A HISTORIC DAY FOR THE MANUFACTURER FROM NOALE

Aprilia triumphs in the Grand Prix of Argentina, taking its first victory in the MotoGP class along with Aleix Espargaró. For the Noale-based manufacturer, one of the most victorious brands in the history of motorcycle racing, this is win number 295 in World Championship GP Motorcycle Racing, the first in the new four-stroke era of the premier two-wheeler class after countless wins in the 125 and 250 cc categories.

A historic day that also crowns Aleix Espargaró on the day of his 200th GP in the premier class. As a true team captain, Aleix was the star of a weekend to remember, made up of a pole position, the win, and the fastest lap in the race. An unmistakeable sign of the outstanding level of competitiveness the 2022 Aprilia RS-GP has reached.

Thanks to this win, Espargaró is now leading in the overall rider standings with 45 points, further demonstration of a more than positive season start for the entire Aprilia Racing team which, at Termas de Rio Hondo, also saw Maverick Viñales taking home his best performance of the season after staying in the top five for quite a few laps.

ALEIX ESPARGARÓ

“I’m very proud of this milestone we’ve reached. We tackled a long path to get here, but we’ve finally done it! It was a fantastic weekend, but it wasn’t a simple race. In practice I was extremely fast, as well as in the warm-up session, but in the race I struggled a bit with a lack of grip. I didn’t lose heart. I tried changing the electronic settings several times to overcome these problems and, in the end, I managed to improve. I was faster than Martín by a few tenths, but it wasn’t at all easy to overtake him, partly because it was a new situation for me. I had never been in the position to battle for a win in MotoGP. It was truly exciting, especially the last lap. I am extremely happy for Aprilia, for me, and for my family. We deserve it. I would like to thank again all the team, who is working hard in Noale and the Piaggio Group for the support. Now we’re leading in the championship, but we’ll just try to take advantage of this positive moment, continuing to have fun and keeping our feet planted firmly on the ground.”

MAVERICK VIÑALES

“Today’s result was a great one for all of us. I’m extremely happy for the entire team and for Aleix. We worked hard over the winter and we deserve it. I knew that Aleix could win because in practice he had demonstrated something more than all the rest. We were all hoping hard because this win is extremely important and it’s a great confidence booster for everyone. As for my race, I found myself battling with a lot of rivals, losing time with passes and counter-passes, and that also had an impact on the tyres. But I can’t complain. It’s great to be back in the top ten, especially because I think I could have finished even better. Plus, my pace in the race improved a lot and I found a good base feeling with the bike. In this race, we were seeking confirmation after the changes to the settings that we tried in the warm-up session in Indonesia, and we got it, so now I’m convinced that we’ll be able to improve even more from here on out.”

The set offered me a chance to step back in time and let my imagination flow while designing, and we hope the experience is the same for fans.” said Florian Muller, Senior Designer at the LEGO Group.

Marco Lambri, Head of the Piaggio Group Design Centre: “Working with the LEGO Group was an extraordinary experience, because it brought together two dreams – the LEGO brand and Vespa. Two outstanding brands able to span different ages, always able to reinvent themselves because they have the capacity to unite and to build in their DNA. As designers, the challenge was to have the soft shapes of Vespa coexist with the form of Lego bricks, a challenge I believe we met with flying colours.”

The LEGO Vespa 125 will be available from LEGO.com, LEGO Stores and other retailers globally from March 1st.

RS 125 NOW AS A NEW GP REPLICA VERSION, COMPLETE WITH MOTOGP LIVERY, AND NEW COLOUR SCHEMES FOR THE MOTARD SX AND ENDURO RX

Noale, 3rd March 2022 – The new Aprilia products for 2022 have landed at retailers, with new colour schemes for the dynamic 125 models, new graphics for the unbeatable V4 Factory bikes, and two new versions of the highly sought after 660. Aprilia once again proves to be one of the most active motorcycle brands on the market.

The Aprilia 125cc range is the widest on the market and comprises four different  options. Updated with a complete restyling that has made them more powerful, safer, more attractive and better equipped, they now feature all-new colour schemes.

Aprilia RS 125, with its Aprilia Black and Sintesi Blue graphics, is joined by RS 125 GP Replica, the brand’s tribute to the MotoGP RS-GP. Its graphics recall those of the 2021 Aprilia MotoGP bike, while its standard equipment is more comprehensive, comprising the electronic quick shift gearbox and passenger seat cover. The latest technical features are all here too, from the new 11 kW single-cylinder, four-stroke, four-valve engine, to double channel ABS, a larger 140 mm rear tyre, and an aesthetic restyling that showcases the LED lighting set and full digital instrumentation.

Aprilia SX 125 and RX 125 also boast brand-new graphics. SX 125 is available with a Red Flash livery in which bright red dominates, while RX 125 is available with either Red Flash or Silver Alien graphics. Both adopt the recently introduced 11 kW engine and single channel ABS that gives the rider greater freedom to have fun both on track and off-road. Sister to the RS 125, the Tuono 125 with its high handlebars remains unchanged, available again in 2022 with Aprilia Black, Lightning White and Arrow Grey graphics.

As for the mid-size class, Aprilia launched at the end of 2021 the highly-anticipated Tuareg 660, however joining this family is the Tuono 660 Factory, the sportiest and most complete model in the Tuono 660 range and a direct descendant of Tuono V4 Factory. With a kerb weight of 181 kg and 100 HP, Tuono 660 Factory boasts an extraordinary weight/power ratio for the utmost in sports riding fun and efficiency. With respect to Tuono 660, the Factory version adopts  more sophisticated and fully adjustable suspension, a very lightweight lithium battery, lighter new foot pegs derived from those of the RS 660 and an engine that delivers 100 HP in its full power configuration, a real injection of energy that is further amplified by the shortened final drive.

The electronics equipment mirrors that of a real superbike and includes the Ride-by-Wire electronic accelerator and six-axis inertial platform, as well as the APRC package complete with traction control, anti wheelie, engine brake adjustment and different engine mappings, all adjustable. Also as standard are the passenger seat cover, electronic quick shift gearbox for ultra-fast shifting, and multimap cornering ABS for maximum safety when braking in any conditions. The dedicated Factory Dark graphics are also all new.

Another new addition for 2022 is Aprilia RS 660 Limited Edition, a special version that celebrates the début win of RS 660 in the prestigious MotoAmerica, the most important motorcycle championship in the States, in which the Noale twin literally dominated, winning ten of the thirteen races. The limited, numbered series of just 1500 units flaunts racing equipment as standard, incorporating the single seat cover, larger top fairing, and quick shift with reverse gearing. Aesthetically, the bike stands out for its stunning stars and stripes livery inspired by the US flag.

The two Aprilia V4 Factory models also benefit from new graphics. Both “her majesty” RSV4 Factory, the greatest ever superbike and one that tops its category in terms of performance thanks to the 217 HP delivered by the Noale V4 and a chassis that sets the benchmark in terms of feeling and efficiency on track, and Tuono V4 Factory, considered to be the pinnacle of motorcycle development and offering unbeatable fun and efficiency on road and track, embrace the beautiful and high-impact Ultra Dark total black graphics, enhanced with matte gold logos.

MOTO GUZZI FAST ENDURANCE EUROPEAN CUP 2022

23 November, Milan, Italy – Six spectacular Fast Endurance races, featuring the best Italian circuits starting in Vallelunga and finishing in Misano. The new Moto Guzzi V7 with 850cc engine, outfitted with GCourse racing kit and Pirelli tyres, makes its track debut. The tried and true V7 III bikes are also on the grid in a separate category.

After three extraordinarily successful seasons with no fewer than 30 teams on every starting grid in 2021, the Moto Guzzi Fast Endurance Trophy – dedicated to riders who want to venture into riding in spectacular “fast endurance” races inspired by the legendary races of yesteryear – is back in 2022 with a big addition. For the fourth edition of the Eagle single-brand championship, the new Moto Guzzi V7 “racing” version will make its début.

With a market launch in early 2021 and wildly popular with the general public straight away, so much that it was one of the most sold bikes in Italy, the latest generation of the best seller from Mandello – equipped with the new 850 cc twin-cylinder and revamped chassis architecture – will be the protagonist of the Cup, promising even higher performance and more fun for all participants.

The equipment package that transforms the new Moto Guzzi V7 into the racing version, compulsory to participate and the same for everyone, is developed, as always, at the skilled hands of the Guareschi brothers, the historic Moto Guzzi tuners who created the GCorse Racing Kit dedicated to the new V7.

The result is an even faster and higher performance bike with better frame and suspension qualities that make it more stable and precise. This increases performance and the thrills on the track, but the features which have made the Moto Guzzi Fast Endurance so successful remain unchanged, making it possible for anyone to get into racing: the new V7 “Trofeo” is still easy, accessible, and suited for any rider.

In the 2022 edition, riders will still be able to use the “racing” version of the Moto Guzzi V7 III, protagonist of the first three years of the single-brand championship. An easier and more accessible alternative for anyone wanting to have fun on the track or for those who want to get one more year out of the investment made in the previous seasons.

The teams on the “seven-fifty” from Mandello with GCorse Racing Kits will race along with all the others, but a specific race and championship category will be dedicated to them.

Last, but not least, for 2022, the invaluable collaboration with Pirelli has been confirmed, sole supplier of the single-brand trophy. All the V7 machines on the grid will be shod with Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp RS, racing tyres developed specifically for the Moto Guzzi V7 and which have proven to perform extremely well in any condition.

The new Moto Guzzi V7’s track début is not the only significant change in the 2022 Moto Guzzi Fast Endurance. After a three-year period of constant growth which culminated with the recognition of the prestigious FIM European Cup title, assigned for the first time precisely in Moto Guzzi’s centennial year, the Eagle single-brand championship is ready for another significant step up in quality, scheduling rounds on four of the most spectacular and fascinating tracks in Italy. These “new entries” are the Cremona Circuit and the fantastic hills of Mugello, the temple of speed for any motorcycling enthusiast.

The cup will feature six “mini endurance” races:

  • Vallelunga (14, 15 May): two 60-minute races
  • Cremona Circuit (17 July): 90-minute race
  • Mugello (28 August): 90-minute race
  • Misano (15, 16 October): 90-minute night race (day 1), 60-minute race (day 2)

The first Misano race will be held at night with the floodlights (and V7 headlights) illuminating the track. The new addition of the night race will give participants the opportunity to experience another type of thrill usually reserved for a few lucky riders.

Every race weekend includes two timed practice sessions, 20 minutes long each for every rider. The average of the best times achieved by the two riders on the team will determine the starting position of each team on the grid for the race or for both in the case of weekends with double races.

A clear throwback to the legendary endurance races of old is represented by the race start, which takes place in “Le Mans” style, in other words, with the bikes lined up on one side of the track and the riders having to cross the asphalt at the start to jump in the saddle and begin the race.

In the race, each rider can ride for no more than 15 minutes (plus 5 minutes to return to pit lane from the time the special “change” board is displayed). This means that the race is livened up by at least three or five rider changes on pit lane, depending on whether it is a 60 or 90 minute race. Refuelling is not permitted. At the end of the race, points are awarded to the top 15 teams.

Participating in the Moto Guzzi Fast Endurance championship is the most fun way to discover your competitive side and to get a taste of the great sense of belonging generated by the Moto Guzzi brand. In total “Guzzista” style, the format of the race weekends combines sporting competition with an extremely social atmosphere. They will be weekends to cultivate friendships and sharing, which have always characterised the healthiest of sports. The Moto Guzzi Fast Endurance championship is made for everyone to have fun, from track novices all the way to the most seasoned racers.

THE MOTO GUZZI V100 MANDELLO EXCLUSIVELY UNVEILED AT EICMA

23 November 2021, Milan, Italy – The first bike in the world to offer adaptive aerodynamics; the first Moto Guzzi to feature semi-active suspension, an inertial platformcornering ABSquick shift and, as anticipated, a liquid cooling systemCompact, sporty and dynamic, it rides like a roadster, but with the comfort and travel vocation typical of the best tourers.

Moto Guzzi paves the way for future motorcycle innovation with a complete, powerful, comfortable, fun bike, packed with first-rate technology. Starting a brand new chapter in the story with a bike that refuses to fit into just one category. Marking its centenary in 2021, Moto Guzzi does not just celebrate a milestone but rather a starting point – the beginning of a new century which will continue to see magnificent motorcycles, authentic and strong in character.

Oozing with charm and cutting-edge technology, these modern bikes will be proudly made in Italy, as ever, at the Mandello del Lario factory. The factory itself will also benefit from a new look, the result of an ambitious project to reconstruct, expand and develop over the coming years – including opening to the public and promoting efficient use of resources for environmental sustainability.

The “V100” name signifies several important themes for the Moto Guzzi brand: Firstly, 100 years of history, passion, skill, innovation and success. It refers also to the next century that has just begun, and finally, indicates the displacement of the very modern new engine, which will become the basis for a family of new generation motorcycles.

V100 Mandello features an innovative design that focuses on showcasing the unique and inimitable twin engine. Far from nostalgic, the lines offer a modern take on the very cornerstones of Moto Guzzi style. A 21st-century bike in style and technology, V100 Mandello still continues to embody the character and authenticity typical of all Moto Guzzis.

It will also be the first Moto Guzzi powered by the new “compact block” engine, with its sophisticated technical characteristics. An innovative design has allowed for the development of an extremely compact and lightweight engine, which is 103 mm shorter than the V85 TT small block. The new twin stands out from all the engines recently built in Mandello del Lario for its cylinder heads, which are rotated by 90°, a decision that increases onboard comfort and rationalises the positioning of components in the intake and electronic injection systems.

Its actual displacement equates to 1042 cc, while timing involves a double overhead camshaft with finger followers and four valves per cylinder, which are chain driven. It also flaunts a wet sump lubrication system, a liquid cooling system, and a hydraulically-controlled wet clutch.

Performance is also second to none, with power in excess of 115 HP and torque of more than 105 Nm. Also, the shaft drive employs a long aluminium single-sided swingarm, now positioned on the left. This, along with the lower drive shaft exit position, makes for a much smoother ride.

The sports character of V100 Mandello does not just have to do with the performance of the new engine, but also the qualities of a compact and manageable chassis, which offers excitement through the turns and fast sections but also real stability over more long-range trips, with that inimitable front wheel feeling, synonymous with fun and riding pleasure. This is also thanks to the steel tube frame.

Its touring attitude is boosted thanks to the significant comfort that the generous saddle and active, relaxed riding position afford. Two-person travel is at the base of the project, the passenger able to count on a significant, well-padded portion of the saddle and practical grab handles, with a posture that ensures a relaxing trip.

Moto Guzzi technology also contributes to increasing both comfort and air protection, with the world-first adoption of an adaptive aerodynamic system that automatically adjusts the position of deflectors on the sides of the 17.5-litre tank depending on the speed and selected Riding Mode. The fully raised aerodynamic appendages reduce air pressure on the rider by 22%, which brings V100 Mandello close to the level of air protection afforded by more voluminous and less sporty tourers, thanks also to the protection provided by the top fairing, the height of which can be electronically adjusted.

This system contributes to what is a first-rate electronics package, including:

  • The Ride by Wire electronic accelerator
  • The advanced Marelli 11MP ECU
  • The six-axis inertial platform for management of the electronic controls
  • Cruise control
  • Cornering ABS to ensure active safety when braking through turns

Four Riding Modes are available, namely Travel, Sport, Rain and Road. Each of these manages three different engine mappings, four levels of traction control, three levels of engine brake and (in the version that introduces them as standard) also calibration of the Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 semi-active suspension, which can adapt automatically, minute by minute, to suit the type of riding and the road conditions, for the best possible bike behaviour in any situation. Electronic parameters can also be personalised so that every rider can find their preferred settings.

Also included as standard is the 5″ colour TFT instrumentation, full LED lighting with DRL and the “bending lights” system with a pair of additional lights that illuminate the entire corner, increasing visibility when leaning.

V100 Mandello is available in two versions, which differ in terms of their trim. The more comprehensive version includes Öhlins semi-active suspension as standard, but also the quick shift, heated handgrips, and the Moto Guzzi MIA multimedia platform that allows a smartphone to be connected to the instrumentation via Bluetooth to extend its functions. Moto Guzzi MIA includes both the infotainment system for management of the voice assistant, phone calls and music via the intuitive handlebar controls, and the GPS function, which allows the rider to view directions directly on the instrument panel once a destination is set on the smartphone.

FUN, FRIENDSHIP AND FREEDOM

Vespa takes us on a journey between reality and imagination

Since its origin, Vespa has transported us into colourful and carefree journeys – places that we could only dream of. Vespa has also always been synonymous with exuberance and it’s capable of “putting things in motion.” This same positive energy comes through in the all-new Disney and Pixar animated film, Luca, streaming on Disney+ starting June 18th. The film features the type of early, fundamental friendship that helps someone grow and ultimately develop into a better version of themselves. And throughout the film, Vespa acts as a symbol of this positive message.

The special collaboration with Disney and Pixar for Luca, in which Vespa tugs at the heartstrings of children and adults alike, comes as Vespa celebrates its 75th birthday. Vespa’s role in the film seems natural and represents the ultimate expression of freedom for the main characters as they set out to experience life above the surface and acquire a Vespa of their own.

The colourfulness that distinguishes Vespa is not only expressed in the vehicles themselves, but also through the personalities of those who choose to ride: interesting people who are young at heart and love to travel (both literally, as well as with their imagination).

So it’s no surprise that Vespa is featured in Disney and Pixar’s Luca, which coincides with the biggest Vespa celebration to date!

Disney and Pixar’s Luca captures all the colours of summertime, which is full of sun and endless holidays. It’s these same colours that make us smile when we think of riding our Vespa home from the beach with the sea salt still on our skin.

However, Luca and Vespa have something else in common, a love of iconic ‘Italianism.’

Like Vespa, Luca director Enrico Casarosa is Italian and has gained international success through his work: directing and producing animated films that win over adults and children around the world!

In a tale like Luca, the ability to thrill and move an audience comes through naturally, albeit with typical Italian style! The film celebrates memories that last a lifetime, thanks to the power of friendship, and it explores themes such as discovery and adventure, which arise from developing the courage to take risks and being open to new experiences. Throughout the film, Vespa becomes the protagonist’s ally during his adventurous journey, and ultimately represents a concentration of the character’s deepest values.

Because Vespa transports you to the happy places of your youth in a way that makes you feel forever young, it creates a unifying experience under the banner of friendship that lets you discover the world and expand your life. Vespa offers you the freedom to be yourself and enjoy adventure, especially with the unforgettable Italian style that we see rooted in the Ligurian land and culture depicted in Luca.

GMG GUZZI WORLD DAYS AND THE CENTENARY MOTORCYCLE RALLY POSTPONED TO 2022

GMG GUZZI WORLD DAYS AND THE CENTENARY MOTORCYCLE RALLY POSTPONED TO 2022

THE SITUATION CREATED BY THE PANDEMIC HAS MADE IT NECESSARY TO RESCHEDULE THE EVENTS THAT WAS DUE TO BE HELD IN MANDELLO DEL LARIO FROM 6 TO 12 SEPTEMBER

Mandello del Lario, 30 July 2021 – The 2021 edition of GMG Guzzi World Days and the Centenary Motorcycle Rally will not be held as planned from 6 to 12 September in Mandello del Lario, due to the situation created by the Covid-19 pandemic.

With great regret, and based on the indications of the authorities and the advice regarding the health situation, Moto Guzzi, the Mandello del Lario Town Council and the Motorcycle Rally Organising Committee have had to take the very difficult decision to cancel the event.

Current conditions, and the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, would have severely limited the possibility of organising an event to match the expectations of the many thousands of enthusiasts who would have arrived from around the world.

The centenary celebrations have only been put on hold, however: the Mandello del Lario municipality and Moto Guzzi will make sure that this important anniversary can be celebrated freely and safely, to everyone’s enjoyment, in 2022.

The Mayor of Mandello del Lario, Riccardo Fasoli, said:

We continued hope right until the end, but the current situation of the pandemic means the anti-contagion measures cannot be relaxed as we would have wished. Conditions are such that we are unable to offer an event in line with expectations for an unforgettable celebration of the centenary. The postponement will enable enthusiasts all over the world to celebrate a completely safe and happy motorcycle rally with us in Mandello.”

Bikers will therefore not find the events, entertainment and attractions associated with this type of celebration in Mandello. For visitors who decide nonetheless to come to the area in early September, Moto Guzzi will keep the Museum open, but, in accordance with the protocols, visits must be booked in advance and will take place with all the precautions required by law.

Additional information will be provided in August.

Tuono 660

As powerful as thunder, as light as a cloud

Two universes collide… The legendary Tuono V4 1100 meets the advanced technology of the RS 660 to create the TUONO 660,
a motorbike destined to shake up the way you look at the world.

Introducing the Tuono 660, the new generation of a versatile naked sportbike. Fun, easy and a heartbreaker on the aesthetics front, its potent combination of power and extraordinary lightness delivers a truly breathtaking and unique riding experience.

It’s what you take away that adds up

Like the RS 660, the Aprilia Tuono 660 boasts an incredible weight to power ratio. Its wet weight of just 183 kg for 95 HP is a record-breaker in its category and makes for an accessible naked sport bike suitable for any rider both on the road and track.

Shaped by the wind

When it comes to style, the Tuono 660 bears all the hallmarks you would expect of an Aprilia sport bike, with sleek, compact dimensions that highlight its dynamic nature. It has also unashamedly borrowed the RS 660’s innovative double fairing for enhanced aerodynamics, the result of rigorous wind tunnel testing.

It all starts with the frame

The Tuono 660’s diecast aluminium frame and swingarm make for a truly glorious structure. If that weren’t enough, then there is the Kayaba adjustable suspension with dedicated set up, to say nothing of chassis dimensions designed to improve response and handling through a reworked geometry of the steering column.

Master of all roads

With five riding modes, of which three provide road options and two are designated for the track, there’s plenty of choice for all riding styles and levels of rider, made even more enjoyable by the customisable and easy-to-use electronic instrument panel.

Inimitable style

Choose from Concept Black, Iridium Grey and the rather special Acid Gold, until now only available on the RS 660, but already setting new standards of style and aesthetics in the motorycling world.
